The Walk Against Hunger

Each year the Coalition Against Hunger organizes an event to raise money and awareness surrounding hunger called the Walk Against Hunger.  This event has taken place for 23 years and our church has supported this walk for a number of years.  Hunger is such an important issue facing our communities.  Supporting events like these help to raise funds to keep these types of programs going.

Our Community Services Leader is passionate about helping those in need and never misses an opportunity to volunteer and raise money.  With so many people in need of food, organizations like the Coalition Against Hunger offers hope to those that truly have no other option.  Our church serves as a local food distribution hub and services this local community at least three times per month.  Without organizations like the Coalition for Hunger and Philabundance, many in this community would suffer from hunger.

On Saturday, April 27, our youth choir participated in the event and offered two selections that were both moving and inspiring.  Although our numbers were few, they delivered an amazing set that really uplifted the crowd.  Despite the wind not working in our favor, they were still able to perform with passion and ease.  Their dedication and commitment is truly inspiring.

If you would like to learn more about this event and other initiatives that the Coalition Against Hunger sponsors, be sure to check out their website at http://www.hungercoalition.org/.  There you can learn more about the organization, food pantries, and volunteer opportunites.

I ask you this one question.  What can you do today to make a difference in someone's life?
